Meet the Manor Team Behind Mainspring Garage Door Co.
We’re the crew that shows up when your spring snaps at 6 a.m. or your opener quits before a holiday weekend. Every person on this page lives in the Manor area or close by, and we’ve all been trained the same way: fix it right, say what it costs before you start, and stand behind it. No phone trees, no subcontractors, no surprises on the bill. That’s how we’ve worked since 1984, and that’s not changing.
Our People
Carl Dutton, Owner
I started this company in 1984, back when Manor was a fraction of the size it is now. Named it Mainspring because that single spring carries the whole weight of a door, and one failure brings everything to a halt. I still answer the phone myself some days, and I still drive out to jobs when a technician runs into something unusual. Over 42 years, I’ve seen what Texas heat does to torsion springs, what Hill Country limestone dust does to rollers, and what happens when a homeowner tries to adjust their own high-tension cables. I don’t recommend it. These days I spend most of my time making sure our K.E.Y.S. training code actually means something on every job: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. When I’m not working, I’m usually fishing the Colorado River or arguing with my grandson about whether a 16×7 insulated door is worth the upgrade. It usually is.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us for 14 years, and he’s the person we send when a door is doing something nobody can diagnose. He’s factory-certified on LiftMaster, Genie, and Chamberlain openers, but his real specialty is tracking down intermittent problems, the kind where a door works fine for three days and then reverses for no reason. He grew up in Elgin, lives in Pflugerville now, and keeps a notebook of every oddball fix he’s encountered. His garage at home is cleaner than most showrooms, which tells you something about how he treats your space. Customers ask for him by name. We don’t blame them.
Rosa V., Senior Installer
Rosa handles our new door installations and full replacements, the kind of work where measurements matter down to the quarter-inch and a crooked track shows itself for years. She’s been installing for 11 years, trained originally on Clopay and Amarr systems, and she’s one of the few people in our network who can match a custom wood door to a 1970s ranch without it looking like an afterthought. She lives in Manor proper, knows the neighborhood setbacks and HOA requirements from experience, and has strong opinions about which direction a door should face to avoid afternoon sun warping. She is usually right. On weekends she restores vintage motorcycles, which explains her patience with finicky hardware.
Darnell J., Service Coordinator
Darnell is the live voice you get when you call (737) 214-0959 at 10 p.m. on a Sunday. He’s been with us for 8 years, knows every technician’s location and specialty in real time, and can talk a homeowner through safely disconnecting an opener so they can get their car out until morning. He’s not reading from a script. He’s based in Round Rock, handles scheduling across our entire service area, and remembers repeat customers by their door problems, which is either impressive or slightly concerning. He also tracks our parts inventory, so when he says Marcus has a spring on the truck, he’s not guessing. Darnell is the reason most calls end with an actual appointment time instead of a callback promise.
Elena R., Apprentice Technician
Elena joined us in 2023 after eight years as an HVAC technician, which means she’s already comfortable in hot attics, tight spaces, and conversations with homeowners who just want the problem gone. She’s completing her journeyman training under Marcus, is certified on Wayne Dalton and Raynor systems, and has a knack for explaining what broke and why without talking down to anyone. She lives in Taylor, commutes through some of the same farmland we service, and has developed a particular interest in wind-load-rated doors for the more exposed properties east of Manor. Her previous trade means she spots electrical issues other techs might miss, especially on older opener circuits. She asks more questions than anyone on the team, which is exactly what we want.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this page works under the same 90-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s printed on every invoice we hand you. If something isn’t right, we come back. No paperwork to file, no dispute line to call, no manager to escalate to. The promise is in writing because we learned a long time ago that a square deal means more when you can point to it.
Our trucks carry the springs, cables, rollers, and openers needed for most same-day repairs, so we’re not making two trips and you’re not waiting on parts. The price is flat and stated before any work begins. We don’t start, then find something else. That’s not how you build a business that lasts 42 years in the same community.
Whether you reach us at noon or midnight, a real person answers. No voicemail, no offshore answering service, no “press 1 for garage doors.” Just someone who knows the schedule, knows the technicians, and knows Manor.
